Case A: Unexplained infertility and depression for one and a half years:

I suffered depression and took anti-depressants for a year and half. I also discovered that I had under-active thyroid recently. We were trying to have baby for two years without luck. I was very tired, sleeping poor with nightmares every night, mood swings, severe P.M.T before my period, etc. I didn’t want to continue take the anti-depressants, so then searched for help with acupuncture. Case B: Suffered from multiple miscarriages:

I had one 4 years old daughter. My husband and I were trying to have second baby for last three and a half years. I had difficulty getting pregnant for two years and miscarried twice at seven weeks in 2006 and at seventeen weeks in Feb.2008. I was devastated. My husband and I were heart-broken. We had done many tests with doctors, and they couldn’t find the cause. Then I heard about Dr. Qiong-Di Wu, a Chinese medical acupuncturist who specialised in fertility from my colleague who attended her clinic and who had had a healthy baby after years of infertility. I made my first an appointment with Qiong-Di in April 2008, and two months of acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatment, I got pregnant very soon this time. Case C: Second infertility for 3 years.

I want to share my story with other patients who are considering acupuncture-fertility treatments. I have one three and a half year old boy. We were trying to have a second baby for last 3 years. I had two IUI treatments which unluckily, wasn’t successful. A friend of mine told me about Dr. Wu. I had my first appointment in January 2007. My husband and I were very sceptical about trying herbs at the beginning. I had acupuncture twice a week before my ovulation time, once a week after ovulation and took Chinese herb pills 2-3 times every day. Five months later, I found that my period was delayed for a few days. The pregnancy test I did came up positive. I was shocked and couldn’t believe it.  I did another pregnancy test to confirm the next day. It showed the same positive result. We were thrilled. I kept hearing that, in the end, herbs and acupuncture had the best results. Our baby now 7 months old is healthy and beautiful.

Case E: Acupuncture enhance IVF treatment

Last year I attempted my first IVF cycle, I had read that acupuncture increased success rates, so I decide to give it a try in conjunction with the IVF cycle. I start the acupuncture sessions when I started the IVF treatment and continued with the sessions until the start of the stimulation phase of the IVF treatment. During this phase I found the IVF treatment very difficult.  I had side effects such as headaches, extreme tiredness, bloating and hot flushes and poor response to the medications. While I completed the cycle it was a struggle and not surprisingly the IVF cycle failed.
After the failure of the first cycle I decided to put in more preparation before the next cycle in order to give it every chance of success, so I started the acupuncture sessions again along with traditional Chinese herbs for the few months before the second IVF cycle so that it had some time to take effect before the treatment.
During the second IVF cycle I continued the acupuncture sessions throughout the whole IVF treatment and especially after the transfer, this time I found that I had no side effects at all, and responded well to medications, which I am delighted to say has worked, resulting in a successful pregnancy with twins.
